Our oceans are more than just a vast expanse of water – the diversity of life beneath the surface is critical to the health of our planet as a whole. From the tiniest plankton to the majestic blue whale, marine biodiversity encompasses the incredible variety of life found in our oceans.
A dedicated group of marine scientists at the Marine Biodiversity Observation Network (MBON) has formed the BioSound working group to explore monitoring and conservation of biodiversity using indices extracted from medium to long-term underwater acoustic recordings.
For this project, Waveform Analytics collaborated with Ocean Science Analytics to analyze datasets and generate interactive visualizations. The resulting multi-page dashboard allows scientists to delve into the data and look for potential connections and correlations.

Repositories
The acoustic and satellite data processing, including acoustic index extraction, may be accessed via the OSA Biosound project repository.
The code generated to prepare the processed data and construct the interactive dashboard is available on the Waveform Analytics BioSound project repository.
